Costume

Although this film is set in the future, fashion is of cyclic nature. Planning costumes for this opening with consist of Modern Day clothing, with a twist.

With the help of a friend, i've spent time analyzing the importance of Costume. For example, above we see the costume gives color and life to the scene. Giving clear and precise connotations of what the character of feeling.

Red- This reflects the classic symbol of love. But also passion, there is no guarantee that the passionate emotion that is being portrayed is a positive one.
Blue- Cold, empty, blue brings a stark contrast to the blazing red of the hoodie, perhaps infering that the passion that once was, is no longer.

Costume Pieces for 21/60

To bring the future to now, i've made the choice to place my actor (the same as in the photo above), in the most futuristic attire that i can find, and add after effects on. For example wearable tech computer on the arm etc.

In an ideal situation, i would create the costumes myself, however, due to budget and time restrictions, this is the next best option.

Lucas

Scene 1:

Coat: There is a real stigma attatched to wearing designer clothing, something i want to follow Lucas. I chose the Superdry brand becuase it is designer, and is a forerunner in its designing into the future.

Color: I chose the black and red coat because i want Lucas to seem lost, and passionately lost. Black is also a deceiving color,  and Lucas thinks he is on the right path, but he is deceived while infact is falling into a very dark place. Black also has connotations of death, something Lucas has experienced and still haunts him.


Scene 2:

Coat: Costume will remain.


Boots: This does have inference. Lucas thinks he is grounded. Thats what the books are there for. To imply that he is, not only well dressed, but appears to be a man close to were he is.

Bottoms: Blue skinny jeans. Lucas is a man of taste, he has an expensive one. The color is less important within this fashion item, only that Lucas understands how to look good.

Scene 3:

Coat:  Coat will be removed

Bottoms:Remain

Top: Normal Black shirt 


Scene 4

Costume will consist of track suit trousers and a white shirt.

Scene 5:

Lucas has no prior church understanding. Stereotypes say that people wear suites to church. Therefore this is the line that Lucas will follow.

Costume: Standard black suite (no tie)

Scene 6: This remains from scene 1.

Priest

This costume will consist of a black shirt, and black trousers, a classic style.
