With this specific film being a high brow restyle of the press and photojournalistic culture, my target audience is going to be 16-35 year olds. This allows for more mature content in the film, while still keeping a reasonably large target audiences. Kill Bill is a great example of films that have a large target audience, get maintain a high quality mature feel. Another example would be the HBO series Game Of Thrones, with a huge following the show keeps to an incredibly mature line and maintains massive viewing audiences. This target audience also allows for the film to keep to a more true to life nature of the photographic world. Scenes that would loose the interest of younger audiences, but add to character development and key plot lines are able to be kept in the final edit, rather than being cut for the sake of children.
This film will attract both male and female target audiences. Keeping the film fast paced enough to maintain the attention of everyone watching will be the obvious way of attraction. However, in order to attract a male target audience, the main character will be a relatable male, who, while not only struggling with his high pressure job and the main plot arc that follows this, but struggling to maintain a relationship. This is what will attract the female audience, the idea of the film following the mind of the male, and there will be an element of dry comedy within that. The Tv series Dexter is a fantastic example of this.

Marketing this film to the correct target audience will be paramount to the success of this film. I intend to produce posters, which in my opinion are still the best way to advertise the film, and increase the target market that way. Another fantastic method of sorting a target audience currently is to use a Youtube trailer, which is age protected, this will prevent the advertising of the product to a younger age range entirely, while keeping film advertised to large audience. Viral marketing then becomes possibility if youtube and other internet sites such a reddit are used. Free marketing that is spread via your target audience, to your target audience. Films such as inception and Harry Potter benefited heavily from this.
